Festival In

The Festival of Avignon, cultural meeting, was created by Jean Vilar in 1947. More than 60 years later, it is today one of the most famous festivals of theater in the world. Passionate people always welcome it enthusiastically.

During three weeks, alive spectacle is for the honor and all the city lives at the rate of representations and contemporary creations.

Every year, an artist is associated to the Festival and gives it a specific colour. The artist associated to this edition 2009 is Wajdi Mouawad, author and director.

Festival Off

Around the Festival In, there is the Festival Off. It takes place this year from 2009 July 8th to 31st.

We owe this alternate festival to André Benedetto. Since 1963, this festival has been more spontaneous than the "IN". The OFF is today one of the biggest festivals of independent companies come from France and from the whole world. These companies transform the city into an immense artistic scene on which they present to the public all the disciplines of alive spectacle.
