This museum is the most prestigious of the city of Avignon. In 1810, it based by the collector Esprit Calvet, and collects today collections of a big importance. It is registered among thirty two classified French museums.
Small inventory of the collections of this museum: archaeology, fine art, decorative arts (silversmith's trade, earthenware, porcelain, tapestry, ironworks) and ethnology in Asia, Oceania and Africa.
The small palace is situated in the North of place of the Popes’ palace; it becomes from 1335 the Episcopal see. The museum is opened in 1976 and since shelters beautiful objects of art. This museum is dedicated to the painting and to the Italian sculpture medieval and of what one names 1st Renaissance.

This museum is a true cabinet of curiosities as it existed so much in the XVII-th century when they were fashionable. Esprit Requien, renowned botanist is at the origin of the foundation (1840) of the museum and the collection which it collects. It’s the natural history museum of the city.

It’s a very young museum, because it opens the doors in 1996. It’s originally a private foundation created by couple of artists. The house was bequeathed to them by the illustrious Parisian dressmaker Jacques Doucet, who was a patron and a collector. Art objects of recognized artists were collected here for our biggest happiness (Cézanne, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Picasso, Degas).

The Palace of Roure is originally Baroncelli's hotel, this luxurious particular hotel dates XV-th century. At the beginning of XX-th century it’s a very full of life place, and much more, a home of the félibrige which is the flourish of the Provençal art, Frédéric Mistral frequented the palace of Roure. Place of culture, it’s today a museum of popular traditions and also a Provençal documentation center.

Crochans's hotel lived many things since its construction in 1330, that it becomes in 1979 the Jean Vilar’s house, in homage to the creator of the famous Festival of Avignon. Today, it’s seven rooms of this monument which are reserved to tell you the history of this great Gothic palace and people who contributed to make the history. This palace built for the cardinal Ceccano dates 1340; it has during centuries had multiple attributions. In the XVII-th century it welcomes a school of 1600 Jesuits, and then in 1768 the other monks settle down there. Afterward, the livery will be barracks, to become school, and in 1982 this magnificent monument is transformed into municipal library.
