Le Calavon
Calavon takes its source near village of Banon à 800 m of height. More low it dug the gorges of Oppédette before joining the valley of Calavon. Calavon drains the rainwater of all the valley among Apt and Céreste. It passes by then towards Cavaillon where it flows into the Durance in 88 km of its source.
Calm most of the time and passing by in a net of water, during plentiful rains or during violent thunderstorms it swells in a fast torrent colored sometimes of yellow by the ochre which it crosses towards Rustrel.
The flood of December 14th, 2008 was provoked with a strong and ceaseless rain of more than 24 hours.
The ground was saturated with water by a particularly rainy autumn. Among the 13th in the evening and on December 16th in the morning was found an accumulation of the rains of 120 mm to Apt, or the quantity of rain received in 1,5 months usually (given Weather report France). The level of the river rose to 3,20 m.
The previous flood goes back up in 1994 with equivalent weather conditions.
