Panoramic railway
The rail on which the small "train des Pignes" passes is opened for soon a century. It is in 1911 when the "train des Pignes" links for the first time the city of Digne to Nice.
The opening of this way was not made without difficulties, from 1882 the works are launched, but it will take time and ingenuity to reach at the end of the plan. The steep relief of the chosen plan will make life difficult at the time of the construction but it is this choice which many years later will constitute all the charm of the "train des Pignes".
By taking this panoramic rail, you will discover bright landscapes of the French Riviera and those of the Alps. On your route numerous stops are proposed allowing you to leave to the discovery of villages and of the surrounding nature. For the amateurs of ride, it is possible to to go down from the train all 3 to 5 kilometers, a real chance to leave to the discovery of the secret places of Provence...
This 151 km rail link which linkss the Alpes-Maritimes and the Alpes de Haute-Provence, crosses about twenty villages, Saint Martin du Var, Tinée, Puget Thénier, Entrevaux, Annot, Saint André les Alpes and its lake of the castillon etc.
The "train des Pignes", it is a picturesque drive in Provence which will drive you from the French Riviera to the Alps, by making you discover sublime landscapes.
