The legend reported by the son of Nostradamus in Life of the most famous poets of Provence says that Sermonde, wife of terrible Raimond, Lord of Roussillon, loves the young troubadour Guilhelm of Cabestang. The jealous castellan killed the lover by a dagger stroke and served the heart to his wife in the form of a dish well prepared. Sermonde found it delicious but learning the truth, threw himself from the cliff. Then the land became bloody.

Perched on the top of cliff of old ochre quarrys, Roussillon is a painter's palette, a magical place where combinations of oxides give to the ochre an infinite variety of colors, which can be found in the landscape, on the front of its houses or trompe l'oeil painting on a portal. With an history deeply rooted in a past millennium, its charm is essentially in the alleyways and its colors. With the warm light, even out of season, is a village of sweetness of life and Hospitality (art galleries and crafts); Roussillon is also a gourmet village.
